Cotd for Friday, January 23, 2015 is from Tarot of the Hidden Realm by Julia Jeffrey, companion book Journey into the Hidden Realm by Barbara Moore. 2013
“Sorrow and pain are part of life. Acknowledging them, feeling them, processing them, and weaving them into your life as you move forward are all a normal and, most would say, healthy part of the process. But this card isn’t really about that. Thoughts can become hamster wheels of obsession. It may very well be true that you’ve experienced something that caused you pain, but the way you are thinking about the event is keeping you from the natural process of healing and, in fact, may be causing more harm, which may have permanent repercussions.” (pg 141)
The next step in the healing process is to let go. We’ve all experienced pain in its varied forms. At one time or another we have been betrayed and we’ve been the betrayer, whether we see if that way or not. We have no control over what other people feel, only ourselves. If you are harboring ill will and holding grudges for the sake of… for the sake of… for what? Because you’ll lose face? Because the hurt you experienced will somehow be diminished if you it let go?
It takes a lot of energy to hold a grudge and I for one have better things to spend my energy on. Don’t you?
