“Burnout is nature’s way of telling you, you’ve been going through the motions your soul has departed; you’re a zombie, a member of the walking dead, a sleepwalker. False optimism is like administrating stimulants to an exhausted nervous system.”
 Sam Keen

You’re likely risking physical, mental, and emotional burnout.  There is nothing more stressful that the demands we put on ourselves, and when we feel we fall short, our stress levels grow exponentially.   Of course, the best way to avoid this is to not get caught up in the cycle in the first place, but we don’t always recognize that’s where we are headed until it’s too late.  Give yourself a break.  You can only give 110% for so long before it catches up and you crash.

“Things sometimes go our way and sometimes they don’t. All we can do is apply ourselves to our profession, giving our very best effort but emotionally letting go of the outcome. Why? Because if we obsess about an outcome, we cannot possibly honour the present moment.”
 Christopher Dines
