“Having expectations that are unrealistically high will likely lead to disappointment and becoming overly defensive. Take care to not wallow long in your sorrow, ask for help to heal and move on.”
Big plans this week just may not be in the cards. A party, wedding, reunion, or possibly a vacation, will be delayed or get cancelled all together. It’s always disappointing when this happens, but it happens and we have to move on.
On a deeper level, the Nine of Wands and Three of Swords suggests this is something very personal and highly emotional. The Nine of Wands would have you on guard at all times convinced that disaster is going to come knocking. Living in this state for too long could cause long term damage to our emotional well-being and balance. Pg. 189 of the handbook states, “one who carefully guards their emotions or who expects the worst due to past experiences of being hurt or betrayed” . This state, I would imagine, would cause anxiety, depression, and the feeling of isolation due to the building of emotional walls. If we stay behind these walls too long we risk becoming too comfortable there and believe this is the normal way live.
Thankfully there is help available if things become too bleak. The King of Cups can signify a doctor, counselor, or a much trusted friend, that is there to help in times such as these. This king is unbiased, loves unconditionally, and wants to help all he can.
