“Competition has been shown to be useful
up to a certain point and no further,
but cooperation, which is the thing
we must strive for today,
begins where competition leaves off.”
~Franklin D. Roosevelt
Competing with yourself can help you sharpen your mind, and your skills. But, at some point those sharpened skills will need to be put to use in a place and time when cooperation from others will be needed for continued success. Compete with yourself for strength and endurance, but then put that to good use. You can’t always reach your goals without the help and cooperation you will find in those who share your ambition and drive. Find ways to compliment each other, not compete. You reach a point where not everything is a race and you no longer have to win, win, win. When you’ve gone as far as you can on your own, then you should think of joining forces and keep on going. Do that, and you’ll still be winning, but you’ll have someone to share it with.
