Cotd for Saturday, September 13, 2014 is from The Gorgons’s Tarot by Delores Fitchie – 2014, Schiffer Publishing.
“The ties that bind us are sometimes impossible to explain. They connect us, even after it seems like the ties should be broken. Some bonds defy distance, and time, and logic. Because some ties are simply… meant to be.” ~M. G.
Eight of Swords: Doubt and confusion regarding a choice. Mental interference. Indecision. Feeling trapped. Confused by too many choices (some of them unrealistic). Fenced in by own beliefs and ideas. In a box created by the mind. Oppressive ideas. Isolation. Afraid of moving out of our (often self-inflicted) prison. Bondage to illusions. Disillusion. Loss of faith. Fear of failure keeps one stuck, unable to move. (from the companion booklet)
It seems simple enough to remove the blindfold and free our minds from self-imprisonment and the dis-ease we can impose upon ourselves. In theory it should be an easy task to shed the bonds which keep us from moving forward — the inner conflicts and turmoils which plague and poison. But, It’s much easier said than done, especially when we are talking about people rather than mere situations or circumstances. These are the Ties that Bind and no matter how much pain is involved, these are the bonds we cannot sever nor allow to remain severed. These are the Ties that Bind.
You ask, “When you cannot sever the ties that bind and it weighs heavy on your heart and mind, what can you do?” The card drawn is The Star. A promise of a calm after the storm and a promise of healing that will come, in time. Hope.
“You sit and wonder just who’s gonna stop the rain
Who’ll ease the sadness, who’s gonna quiet the pain
It’s a long dark highway and a thin white line
Connecting baby, your heart to mine
We’re runnin’ now but darlin’ we will stand in time
To face the ties that bind
The ties that bind
Now you can’t break the ties that bind
You can’t forsake the ties that bind”
